In the Western versions, players quickly discovered the "Flute Warp Whistles" that allowed skipping worlds. In the version, the warps are harder to access. More importantly, the enemy placement is more aggressive. Certain enemies (like the giant ship cannons) shoot faster, and some platform jumps are tighter in World 7 (Pipe Land). Nintendo of America requested an easier difficulty for the US release to cater to a broader rental market.
